Can a Sony MiniDisc recorder record from a microphone with “voice operated recording” ?

I have a Sony MZ-R700 which I want to use the same as my old Sony M-627V Microcassette-Corder. I can set this old one to voice operated mode so it starts when a sound reaches a certain volume level. I want to do the same with the MD recorder.

It doesn’t have that capability. It’s not really a dedicated Voice Recorder. You’d be better off with this unit I think: Sony MZ-B10. I believe this unit will do what you’re wanting. Check the manual for more info. Bob’s your uncle
